BOTTOM ROLLING DOORS CASE STUDY

Greater Binghamton Airport-Broome County Airport Hangar Door Rehabilitation (Johnson City, NY)

Door Engineering and Manufacturing was granted the opportunity to convert the existing 4-section trained bottom rolling, electrically operated hangar door system into an 8-section, bi-parting hangar door at the Greater Binghamton Airport-Broome County Airport Hangar.

The existing system was no longer operating which required a tug to manually open and close the doors. The concrete at the bottom rail was raised and had deteriorated in many locations. It was also necessary to replace the top roller assemblies.

The new configuration was designed by separating the existing trained panel door sections. The top tracks and door section framing were still in good condition. Top roller assemblies were traded with new telescoping assemblies and weather seals were exchanged with bulb-type seals. The existing bottom rail systems were replaced along with the bottom wheels. The operator and electrical components, as well as the feed rail system were also updated with new systems. New exterior corrugated, insulated sheeting was the finishing touch.
