The Bet Shalom Synagogue near Minneapolis was symbolically designed with the sanctuary at the center of the building. A beautiful glass, movable wall system was created to divide their worship area from the common room.
Through close collaboration between Door Engineering, the architects, the engineers and the wall panel manufacturer, Door Engineering developed a door that split horizontally at the center. With the turn of a key, a uniquely designed operator and track system move the upper half of the door above the opening into the ceiling and the lower half of the door through the floor into the basement. When the sanctuary wall is closed, a double pass door allows for passage from the sanctuary to the common room.
